Sweet dream or nightmare? |
|
On launching this site on 15 June, I wrote about my dream of 'having' my own bridge website. Some three months later it is time for the first evaluation.
So far it definitely is a sweet dream. Setting up an online bridge magazine requires a lot of time and energy but the reward is great. To see the site grow every day, both in content and number of visitors, is a fantastic experience. Furthermore, contacts with visitors are very direct: if something is wrong, we are being informed at once. This way we get the opportunity to correct mistakes quickly, which is not possible in classic magazines: once printed remains printed... More and more we find out making a digital magazine is quite different from making a monthly printed magazine. Being online offers endless possibilities and many new applications. It is not thát long since two guys thought: 'Let's start a site where people can show their video's...' Only a few years later modern media without Youtube are unimaginable. Arguably my kids watch it more often than TV. It shows virtually everything. What I am trying to say with this, is that we do not know today what kind of bridge we can offer on the internet tomorrow. We float on the stream but try to be innovative as well, to pick up new trends. That is what makes the whole thing extra exciting and interesting. Therefore we will not exclude any cooperation, so I invite those with new ideas to share these with us, enabling Bridgevaria.com to keep on offering new and original subjects and applications to its visitors. I am very satisfied about the site as it is now, but have no idea how Bridgevaria.com will look in two years. Differently, that's for sure, and you can also decide what Bridgevaria's future will look like. How about that for a challenge? Ed Hoogenkamp |
